Therapeutic Penetrating Keratoplasty is a surgical procedure where a diseased or infected host cornea is replaced with healthy donor corneal tissue. Unlike standard transplants which are often for vision alone, ThPK is typically an emergency or semi-emergency surgery performed to:

• Eliminate deep-seated infections (fungal, bacterial, or viral).
• Repair a perforated cornea (tectonic support).
• Save the eye from further damage.
