KERATOCONUS TREATMENT – C3R

KERATOCONUS TREATMENT – C3R

Keratoconus management is a specialized service led by Dr. Dharmesh Shah. The hospital offers a tiered treatment approach, ranging from non-surgical stabilization to advanced surgical reconstruction.

 Stabilization: C3R (Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking)

This is the primary treatment for early-to-mid-stage Keratoconus. It is designed to stop the disease from getting worse.

  • The Procedure: Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) eye drops are applied, followed by controlled UV light exposure. This strengthens the corneal fibers (cross-linking), preventing further bulging.
  • Benefits: It is a minimally invasive, painless procedure that can prevent the future need for a transplant.

Vision Correction: Specialized Lenses

Since standard glasses often fail to correct the distorted vision caused by Keratoconus, Arham provides customized lens fitting:

RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) Lenses: Hard lenses that provide a smooth surface for light to enter the eye, offering much clearer vision than glasses.

Mini Scleral Lenses: Larger, specialized lenses that vault over the sensitive cornea and rest on the white part of the eye (sclera). They offer superior comfort and are ideal for patients who find RGP lenses irritating.

  • Dr. Dharmesh Shah was the first to introduce many of these technologies (Intacs, C3R) to the Saurashtra region.
  • Diagnostic Precision: The center uses advanced Corneal Topography and OCT to map the cornea's thickness and shape, ensuring the right treatment is chosen at the right time.
  • NABH Accredited: The only cornea clinic in Saurashtra and Kutch with this high-level quality certification.
